This was our cricket freak groups first of its kind trekking trip!!! Thank god we ended up at the right place "Forest Home Stay". These guys made it memorable with their hospitality and service... everything was perfectly set for our group of 8 guys. Full marks to the locality of the home stay. Greenery everywhere and awesome views. Birds chirping around and water flowing within the visible distance from the home stay!
We reached Chikmagalur around 9 am (we were so excited about this trip that we reached 2 hrs earlier than planned). We kept informing Jeevan/Nuthan accordingly and were trying to reach the place using maps/navigator.. we could reach upto Aldur and felt little lost (no mobile signal which was exactly what we wanted too)! But there was Nuthan already waiting for us.
We reached the home stay by 10 am in Nuthan's jeep and they welcomed us with refreshing tea/coffee. Till lunch everyone started enjoying the surroundings, played carrom (I won some money too!), shooting, archery and clicked lot of pics..
Just when we were all getting ready to go for trekking it started raining and everyone preferred to stay indoors and enjoyed 2-3 hours of sleep! (surprised? previous night no one had slept since we started around 1 am from Bangalore!). Rain came down and Sanjay took us to sunset point.
Next day morning we were all geared up and Dixit took us to another wonderful place. Everyone got tired by the time we reached the last point but the path we travelled (trekking) was a different experience for all of us. We were bit unlucky that we missed the view due to heavy rain.
We were also taken to Shankar Falls by Dixit and Sanjay which was another amazing experience. Thanks to Dixit for allowing me ride his bike till the place! It ended up as a small little adventure as we had to walk thru the water flows. It was bit risky but enjoyable in the end. Only 3-4 of us made it till the falls. Rest who gave up half the way and stayed back definitely missed the closeby view of shankar falls. But overall it was wonderful experience.
Sanjay - talks less but nice boy with timely service.
Dixit - was friendly and by the time we came back from trekking he became part of our group :).
Nuthan - supervisor - you just ask anything he is ready to keep it ready. Awesome guys and made our home stay experience memorable.
Jeevan - timely co-ordination throughout our stay and everything was made perfect.
Anytime if we plan to visit chikmagalur, Forest Home Stay will be our first choice :).
